Jacob + Heidi's
Oglebay Wedding

Trish and Eric might just be my new favorite clients. They planned a beautifully-intimate affair at the Brooklyn Winery in Williamsburg, inviting just 35 of their closest friends and family members. Everything from her gorgeous J. Crew gown to her simple and sweet DIY florals to their unique invitation design was carefully handpicked to create a day that truly represented who they are as a couple. And they are pretty cool.
After getting ready at the newly-opened Hotel Williamsburg, we headed over to the waterfront for portraits just as the sun was going down. Both the ceremony and reception were held at the Brooklyn Winery -- one of the warmest, most intimate venues Brooklyn has to offer.
When Melissa told me she needed a photographer for her Camp Susque wedding I was more than just a little excited. I spent one week of every summer of my childhood at this camp and hadn't been back since I was 13 years old. Driving up to such a familiar place so many years later had me experiencing some serious nostalgia. Add to that the fact many people I knew from the camp were guests of the wedding and actually remembered me (I still can't believe it).
Melissa and Seth did an amazing job of turning the camp of my childhood into a venue for their wedding reception. And it didn't hurt that the camp is set in the middle of the Allegheny mountains that just happened to be changing color as fall set in.
How many brides play ultimate frisbee on their wedding day? Melissa wasn't your average bride... in addition to a game of frisbee, she also participated in a game of basketball and a round of cornhole.
To Melissa and Seth, I wish you the very best as you start out your new lives together!
Mary Beth and Amy got me to do something I haven't done in a very long time -- go back to good ol' Virginia and witness the stunning beauty of the Shenandoah Valley. Having grown up less than half an hour from where we did this shoot, there was a strange feeling of nostalgia in the air that made me miss the blues, the grays, the browns and the greens of the Blue Ridge Mountains. I think this may have unconsciously inspired me to pull out those colors in their images. Together we spent the evening wandering around the site for their wedding -- set to happen in January of 2013. I hope that as you look through these pictures that you are able to see the incredible amount of love these women have for each other. Without further ado...
And last, but not least, one in the Carriage House, where both their wedding ceremony and reception will take place in January of 2013. I can't wait to see the vineyard under a couple feet of snow!
